Test test Test test Test test So now that we’ve got you serving beers, you probably feel like this jobis just a little too easy. Well, don’t go running back to Newgroundsjust yet. Things are just getting interesting. You know about the mood meters. Make a customer wait too long, and they’re gonna leave. Beers are quick, but most drinks take longerto prepare. You’re gonna have to entertain these people. Flairing, or performing tricks, is the only way to keep the customers happy while they wait. When you perform tricks, the customer’smood meter will go up, and so will the tips that customer gives you. Tricks can be a little complicated at first, so allow me todemonstrate the easiest trick– the Flip. Grab a beer bottle, and get yourself some room to throw it by moving it to the edge of the screen. Move it quickly up and sideways and release it to throw. Then catch it before it hits the bar!Try tossing a bottle around until you get a feel for it. CLICK AND DRAG QUICKLY DRAG AND RELEASE CLICK & HOLD TO CATCH When you perform tricks, you’ll activate the Combo Clock, and all thetricks you perform will add to your combo score. If you set down yourlast bottle, or let the timer run out, the combo will end and you’llbank the points. Let’s see if you’ve got the hang of it… Flip one of these bottles and see if you can bank a100 point combo. I’ll wait. Good. You can also throw more than one bottle at once. As long as you have a bottle in the air, the combo timer will not count down.Careful, though- if you break a bottle, the combo will not count. There are eleven basic tricks that you can do. I’ll teach you onemore before I let you go practice with some real customers. This next trick can only be done with the larger liquor bottles.Start by picking one up and moving it above the bar. Now toss it up and sideways to put just a bit of spin on it. When it’s pointing downward, click it and hold to balance it. DRAG & RELEASE The bottle when it's pointed down To keep a bottle balanced, you have to move with it– when it starts to fall left, move left. If it starts to fall right, move right. KEEP HOLDING Move cursor to keep the bottle vertical If the bottle falls too far, you’ll drop it. Release the mouse button and click the bottle to catch it before it breaks. Too far! MOVE BOTTLE BACK BELOW BAR So now that you’ve some tricks down, it’s time to put your training tothe test. You’ll be serving beers again. Every drink has ingredients. You can double click any drink order to bring up the recipe card, and then click the ingredient name to find the correct bottle. The recipe for her drink it calls for 2 oz. of vodka. (If you can’t see the recipe card, you need to double click her Drink Order).To find the vodka, click “2 oz. Vodka” on the recipe card. If you think that a drink you’ve poured is beyond saving, you can throwaway any drink by dropping the glass under the bar. It’ll justdisappear, and I’ll probably drink it later. Grab the glass and drag it up to the bar. These don't. These take Ice Drinks mixed in large glasses like this one always take ice, and you should put the ice in first. (The smaller glasses won’t hold ice, even if youtry to put it in them. When in doubt, just go ahead and try.) Putting ice in the glass is easy. Grab the ice scoop and drag it over theice bucket to scoop some ice. Then drag it above the glass to dropin the ice. When you’re done with the scoop, just let it go.

Now that you’re holding the gun, just drag it above the glass to start fillingit with water. When the glass is full, drag the gun away to stop filling,and release the gun to drop it back where it belongs. The soda gun holds 6 different ingredients: water, soda water, tonic, cola, lemon lime soda, and RedStar energy drink. Each one hasa different button. Smashley’s back for one last free drink. Grab her glass and place it on the bar. You’ve got this one under control. Fill her glass with ice, pour thelicorice liqueur, then fill it with RedStar and serve the drink. You’re ready to start working by yourself now. I’ll start you off with some light shifts, but you’ll be moving up in no time, as long as you keepmixing accurate drinks, and keep the customers entertained. Speaking of entertainment- there’s one more thing I want to teachyou before you start your first shift... Grab one of the liquor bottles and move it quickly down and rightand then quickly up and left. That’s called the Hand Spin. You won’t get any points for it, but it sets upa lot of other tricks. If you throw a bottle that’s already got some spin on it, it’ll do more flips than it usually would. Hand spins also reset thecombo timer, so you can stretch combos out even longer. I’ve got plenty of other good stuff to teach you. When you get a break, come by the Training Room and we’ll talk some more.And don’t think I forgot about your training bonus– I stuck it inyour tip jar. To be honest with you, I don't usually train new hires. We've got rookie bartenders to handle that Mickey Mouse nonsense. When you perform flair combos, you build up a special kind of energy. When that energy gets high enough, you can perform yoursignature move. I'll go ahead and fill your signature meter now. When you're on a shift,you'll have to fill it yourself by doing flair combos.When the meter is full, you're ready to do your signature trick. Your signature trick, the "Silent Assassin", gives you lightning-fast reflexes. You'll move so quickly that the bottles and glasses willjust float through the air. Increasing your special stat will increasethe amount of time that you'll have in this state. You know what a cold, dark place the world can be. Your signature, "Iron Curtain", will give bottles the same resiliency that you'vedeveloped to deal with life's challenges. Increasing your special statwill make this effect last longer. Voodoo may be misunderstood around these parts, but you'll be using it to your advantage. When you use your "Priye Vodou" signature, you'llhave maximum Dexterity, Charisma, and Strength for a limitedtime. Increase your special stat to increase that amount of time. You know how to get a crowd excited. When you use your "Righteous" signature, you'll get the customers' attentions. While you're using it, you'll actually be rewarded for every bottle you break. Increaseyour special stat to increase the time you have to break bottles. You're a salty bastard, Mr. Kieran, but you've got quite a few tricks up your sleeve. Your "Criminal" signature will allow you to steal tips fromthe customers. Increase your special stat to increase the amountof time you have to steal tips. You're a man that knows what the people want. When you use your signature, you'll get a secret ingredient to mix into the drinks. Every customer that gets it will lovehis or her drink, no matter what. Increase your special stat to up the number of times you can use it. April Showers, if that's even your real name, you know how to seduce men and women alike. Use your "Heartbreaker" signature to turn up the heat, and everyone will forget how much of an airhead you are. Customers will have unlimited patience whileyour signature is active. Increase your special stat to increase the amount of timeyou can use it. You may not win every hand you play, but you play enough that it doesn't really matter- does it, Luc? Use your signature for a chance to get lucky and score some extra cash. Increase your special stat toput the odds in your favor. Judge, you're too old for this. But you are a hell of a shot with that six-shooter. When you use your signature, you'll get to show off your skill to entertain the customers. Shoot the bottles as they pop up to score points. The higher your special stat, the more shots you'll get. Rey Conquista, you're ridiculous. Why did you bring your shotgun to work? While you've got it, I guess you can do your "Revolucion" signature. When you use it, you'll some shells loaded in your shotgun. Press the SPACE bar, and you'll shoot any falling bottles back up in the air for a quick save. The higher your special stat, the more shots you'll get. Smashley's back for one last free drink. Grab her glass and place it on the bar. You've got this one under control. Fill her glass with ice, pour thelicorice liqueur, then fill the glass with RedStar and serve her thedrink. You're ready to start working by yourself now. The “Balance” trick can be performed with any of the large liquorbottles– the smaller bottles just don’t balance well. Pick up any bottle and toss it so that it’s got a slight spin on it.When it’s rotated so that it’s pointing down, click and hold the bottle. To keep a bottle balanced, you have to move with it– when it startsto fall left, move left. If it starts to fall right, move right. The longer you hold a bottle, the more points you’ll score, andthe harder it will become to keep balancing. “Assisted” balancing means that the bottle doesn’t have to bepointed directly down to start balancing– you can get a little sloppy. ASSISTED BALANCE The bottle can be up to 40° from vertical You can catch any glass with any bottle – except for the beerbottles. No one wants to see that anyway. To catch a glass, first throw it high into the air to give yourselfenough time to grab a bottle. Then grab a bottle and move it so that the glass lands on top of it.If you’ve got the placement right, you’ll catch it automatically. Nice. To release the glass, either drop the bottle or do a hand spin– doinga handspin will pop the glass up into the air. As always, make sure that you put the glass and bottle down gently.Breaking the bar equipment will also break your combos. C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER! To do a Balance Transfer, you have to start with a balancingbottle. Toss your balanced bottle so that it hangs in the air for at leasta second– anything less than that, and it won’t count. Then, catch it again while it’s pointing downard to balance it again–going from balance-to-balance like that is called a balance transfer. The more balance transfers you do in a row, the morepoints you’ll get for each one. If you catch it when it’s not pointing down – a regular catch – you’llbreak the streak, and the next balance transfer will count as your first. To do a hand spin, pick up any bottle – except the beer bottle. Drag it upwards so you’ve got some room to work, then move itquickly down-right, then quickly up-left. Doing a hand spin will reset your combo timer, allowing you tostretch those combos out even longer. If you’ve already got a bottle spinning, move it quickly down-rightand quickly up-left again to do a level 2 hand spin. This will cause the bottle to spin even faster and reset your comboclock a second time. If you’ve already spun a bottle twice, you can spin it again by movingthe bottle quickly down-right, then quickly up-left. This is the highest level hand spin. It will reset the combo clocka third time, and make your bottles spin faster than ever. If you keep picking up new bottles and spinning them, you canstretch your combo timer out forever. To pop a glass up, you’ve got to toss it up in the air– high enoughthat you’ll have some time to grab a bottle and hand spin it. Grab your bottle and do a hand spin to get it moving. Then movethe bottle so that it strikes the glass as the glass falls. The glass will pop up into the air when it hits the spinning bottle. The glass will pop up in a random direction– the more times you pop it up, the more random that direction will be. Now that you’ve got level 2 pop ups, you have more control overthe direction that your glass will fly. The glass’s direction will still be partially random, but it is more likelyto move in the direction that your bottle is moving. Congratulations– you’ve unlocked the Bottle Pop Up. Popping up a bottle is like popping up a glass– throw it up and geta hand spin going on another bottle. Then hit the falling bottle with the spinning bottle to pop it up again. If you’ve thrown up too many bottles to catch, use the bottle popto give yourself some time to get them down one at a time. The Superman is like the Ice Catch, only much more impressive,and much more difficult to pull off. To start, grab the ice scoop and fill it, then throw those ice cubeshigh up in the air. AND STOP! Now grab a glass. As the ice falls, you have to throw the glass upso that it catches the ice in mid-air. THROW CATCH Don’t just give it a weak little toss, either. The trick won’t countunless that cup is moving. ClearlyDoing itWRONG. No. If you catch all three ice cubes in one toss, you’ll pull off aSuperman Trifecta– very impressive. There’s a similar trick called the Frozen Coast, and it’s even tougher to pull off. To do a Frozen Coast, throw the ice up like you would for aSuperman. Then, bounce the glass off of the wall and into the ice to catch it.That’s a Frozen Coast, and it ain’t easy. If you manage to catch all three ice cubes in the glass after bouncingit off of the wall, that’s a Frozen Coast Trifecta– a.k.a. “Sub-zero”. Good luck. You know how to pour liquor, so this will be pretty easy. Start off by pouring from a bottle like you usually would. START POUR Make sure that you’re pouring into the center of the glass, and movethe bottle upwards until it’s at the top of the screen. Pouring... Move it up There you have it– the high pour. Make sure the pourspout stays centered over the glass the whole time, or you’ll stop pouring. Not good. To catch ice, you have to throw it. Start by scooping some iceinto the ice scoop. Then move the ice scoop quickly up, then quickly stop to tossthe ice upwards. Release the ice scoop after you’ve thrown the ice. Now pick up a glass. Watch the ice, and move the glass underneathit to catch the ice as it falls. Try to catch all three ice cubes– that’s an ice catch. If you let the ice hit the bar, it’ll bounce up. Catch it after it’sbounced to perform a Bounce catch. Seriously? That's nasty. That’s actually really unsanitary, and you’d better not pull thatwhen there’s a health inspector around. No matter which way you do it, don’t worry if you miss the ice–you won’t get points if you miss, but you won’t fail the combo, either. ? Start the coast-to-coast by picking up any bottle. Beer bottleswon’t work– no one wants a beer that’s been bounced all over. Throw the bottle at the wall as hard as you can. If you throw ithard enough, it’ll bounce off and hit the opposite wall. If a bottle bounces off both walls, it’s a coast to coast. After that,every wall it hits before you catch it will be another coast-to-coast. The higher your strength stat, the faster you’ll be able to throwthose bottles, and the more coast-to-coasts you can get in a row. To do a flip, pick up any bottle or glass– even the beers will work. Get yourself some room by dragging it to one side of the screen,then move the bottle from one side towards the other and release. The faster a bottle or glass moves horizontally,the faster it will rotate. Every full rotation is scored as a flip. This signature trick requires a bit of luck– but the rewards can besweeter’n the queen’s ass. This is a defensive signature trick with a little added bonus ifyou’ve got the stomach to take your tricks to the limit. This signature trick rewards epic destruction. I personally don’tunderstand the appeal– seems a bit like pissing into the wind to me. No responsible bartender would ever mix guns and liquor. Andnow that the disclaimer’s out of the way, let’s have some fun. A defensive signature trick, this also happens to seriously violatethe laws of physics– not to mention every other law on the books. While it may seem like a cheap trick– and don’t get me wrong, itis– this signature will lose its appeal as you upgrade your stats. I’ve only experimented with “secret ingredients” one time, and thatwas in ‘Nam. And I ended up dancing naked in an enemy foxhole. Unscrupulous business practices are something I don’t really agreewith on a professional level– but I do serve booze for a living... Strange women are instantly attracted to my rugged good looks anddevilish charm. You’ll have to use a signature to get those results. You’d think that doing tricks in slow-motion would be a bad idea.And, like usual, you’d be wrong. I’m going to fill your signature meter for this. Grab any large liquorbottle and follow the mouse gestures onscreen to perform this trick. Pick one of three cards– two will greatly increase the tips you getfor the rest of your shift, the third will give you nothing. While this sig is active, no bottle or glass can break– they’ll allbounce safely until you catch them, or until time runs out. Smash all the bottles you can while this sig is active– you’ll berewarded for every one that breaks. Shoot down the bottles as they fly through the air– watch yourammo, and click the revolver to reload. When you press the space bar, you’ll blast any falling bottles backup into the air. Watch your ammo. While this sig is active, you’ll have level 11 strength, dexterity, andcharisma. Every drink you serve will include your own “secret ingredient”–guaranteed to be a hit with your customers. Click the “steal tips” bar that appears over every customer as manytimes as you can before time runs out to steal some extra change. While this sig is active, your customers will be completelyentertained by your beauty– I know, I don’t get it either. All bottles and glasses will move in slow-motion while this sig isactive. That’s right, slow-motion, not “bullet-time”. Old school. Increase your special stat to increase your odds of getting the bestcard. Increase your special stat to increase the time that you’ll have touse this signature effect. Increase your special stat to increase the time you’ll have to smash bottles. Increase your special stat to get more bullets for your six gun. Increase your special stat to increase the number of shotgun shellsyou can use each time. Increase your special stat to increase the duration of these effects. Increase your special stat to get more of your special ingredienteach time you use this signature. Increase your special stat to increase the amount of time thatyou have to steal tips. Increase your special stat to increase the amount of time that yourcustomers’ mood meters will be frozen.
